Description: Located next to the courthouse, the Old Florence County Jail is a small building, built in 1889, which functioned as a jail through the early 1940s. A project to restore the building as it was in the 1940s is scheduled to begin spring 2002.
The Florence County Courthouse and Jail were nominated for and accepted to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. The nomination papers described the jail as a "Romanesque influenced structure."
Free admission, donations welcome. Open M-F, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., year-round.
