Description: Housed in the Breese residence, Zona Gale Breese's home from 1928-1939, the Museum at the Portage was established in 1995. The building was home to the Portage Library for the previous 50 years.
The Museum offers a photographic display of the Portage Canal, railroad memorabilia, a 1900 bedroom, Zona Gale's study, and a military display with artifacts spanning the Civil War to the Gulf War. The refurbished 2nd floor will offer a theater display, a variety of tools, and a communications exhibit.
Located at 804 Macfarlane Road.
Open Sat & Sun, 12-3pm year-round except January. Or by special arrangement. Call Ted at (608) 742-6700. Free admission, donations welcome.
