Artist statement
This art that I compose represents a unique form of mixed media that blurs the boundaries between painting and traditional photography. Using camera, film and the tools available from my studio and virtual darkroom, I transform flora, fauna and esoterica into energetic, evocative imagery.
These images that I spy in parks, backyards, zoos and natural habitats ultimately radiate personality intentionally reminiscent of the fauvists and impressionists. The principles of complementary colors and color harmony fascinate and inspire me. I thrive on the
transformations that occur when I apply these principles; my spirit is fed by the infinite permutations that are possible for portraying the world that exists within the confines of nature and the liberal boundaries of my imagination.
