Artist statement
Currently, my artwork expresses the wonder and power of personal experience. I draw upon moments of my youth, religious beliefs, coincidences, dreams and thoughts to create unique narrative paintings that explore different aspects of life and purpose. Though the paintings may not always be easily read, they allow for many interpretations and raise open-ended questions. At the same time that they embody wonderment, they also hint at an underlying notion of purpose and possible providence.
Biography
I was raised and graduated high school in the small, isolated town of Markesan, Wis. I attended college at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting and graphic communications in 2003. I went on to receive a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2007.
