Voices of Rural Wisconsin Part Four: Shaping a Healthy Future
Will Andresen - Hurley
Time and again in the course of gathering voices of rural citizens, I've heard how important University of Wisconsin Extension is to our communities. Iron County Extension Community Resource Development Agent Will Andresen brings us back to another familiar topic in rural America: rural brain drain, or the loss of young people and dearth of young professionals in these settings. Andresen's main point is that while economic development is an important asset for a thriving community, so is social capital. His work in the far north offers a model for success--and hope for communities facing similar issues.
