Milwaukee Mandolin Orchestra
The Milwaukee Mandolin Orchestra has been active since 1900. The group was established as a nonprofit organization in 1905. The formal name of the group is the Bonne Amie Musical Circle (BAMC). The BAMC adopted the name Milwaukee Mandolin Orchestra in 1982 and is now officially the performance branch of the BAMC. The Orchestra has 1st and 2nd mandolin sections, as well as sections for tenor mandola, mando-cello, guitar, mando-bass, percussion, flute and voice.
The MMO has two CD recordings, "Mandolins in the Moonlight" (1998) and "Unplugged Since 1900" (2007). In 2006, the Orchestra performed on two separate occasions for Garrison Keillor's live radio broadcasts of "A Prairie Home Companion."
