Artist statement
My work features artful bugs you will want to take a closer look at, not run away from. The tiny details awaiting discovery are awe-inspiring, from the eye-catching scales on a butterfly's wing to the striped, tiny antennae and legs of blue butterflies. My compositions focus on the amazing colors, patterns, textures and rhythms found in nature. I spend hours in the field with butterflies and other bugs seeking the perfect natural light to highlight the beauty of nature's colors.
Biography
I am a nature photographer living in Madison, Wisconsin. I started out taking a black and white photography course in high school and have loved photography ever since.
My images are exhibited at nature centers and other venues throughout Wisconsin. My photographs have been published in several magazines, books and other publications, including American Butterflies and Butterfly Gardening, and I periodically teach butterfly gardening classes.
