Artist statement
My goal in making art is to create something that brings a positive experience to the viewer and myself. Ideally, the pieces I create contain elements of beauty, joy and inspiration. I enjoy my art as much as anyone who acquires it, and I am always happy to find that it pleases others. Although my imagery seems to shift from time to time, I see a common thread running through it. That recurring theme is my attempt to encapsulate the fleeting visions and feelings that are found beyond our mundane realm. My art shifts from narative to contemplative, from representational to abstract, but imagination is always the driving source because I consider imagination to be our most precious faculty.
Biography
Began working in the field of commercial art/technical illustration in the mid-70's.
Started showing "fine art" in the Milwaukee area in the mid-80's, mostly painting and mixed 2-dimensional art. Shifted my focus to metal and mixed-media sculpture in the mid-90's. Have continued to show my work in and around the Milwaukee area since.
