Artist statement
Growing up in a family full of artists, I always aspired to create "something." When I picked up my first SLR camera, I figured out just what that something was. Although I've studied and worked in many areas of this medium, I've recently found that Polaroid manipulation allows me to combine a love of photography with the ability to express myself in a more impressionistic way. It's the best of both worlds, and I can only hope that the results evoke as much joy in viewing as I get out of creating them!
Biography
Karen Weidert grew up in Burlington and studied photography at The Rocky Mountain School of Photography in Montana and The Maine Photographic Workshops. She's worked as a professional photographer and photostylist and has contributed to projects for Harley Davidson, Kimberly-Clark, Lands' End and others. She currently works as a freelance photographer and stylist in Appleton.
