Artist statement
I love glass because it is a magical balance of fragility and strength. It is made up mostly of sand and light, like body and soul. I work with shapes from nature like leaves and fish because they express best the simple elegance of the world around us. I also do a series of more whimsical pieces, like shoes and clothes on a clothsline, to share the pure joy of living.
Biography
I have lived my whole life in Wisconsin and studied glassblowing at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. I graduated with a B.S. degree in art in 1987. I have exhibited in shows and galleries around the nation since 1988. I had a solo exhibition at the gallery of the Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters in 1993.
