Artist statement
I have been painting over 20 years. Inspiration for my pastel paintings comes from the area in northern Wisconsin where I reside. I live amidst farmland, forests, lakes and swamps and my paintings reflect the changing seasons and ever dynamic atmospheric conditions. I am enamored with sky and the diversity of color and texture any time I look up.
As a landscape painter, I want there to be an excitement about the richness of the colors, the play of light on the landscape, along with a familiarity of place that creates a sense of peace for the viewer.
Biography
Born in the Midwest, I have resided here most of my life. I attended Creighton University, Omaha, Nebraska, and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. I have attended numerous workshops and classes over the years to learn different techniques. Most importantly, I create in my studio every day--I have to.
I have participated in numerous shows: large- and small-group, juried and open, themed or not. I am a professional framer at Art Beat of Hayward, Wis.
My artwork can be seen in galleries in northern Wisconsin and on my Web site.
