Artist statement
My large-format oil paintings are intended to convey a sense of color, light, contrast and beauty as I strive to capture an ordinary scene or object in a fresh way. I paint the things I see and experience that make me smile--you'll notice that there are only sunny blue skies, abundant fields and tranquil bodies of water in my landscapes. The florals I create are based on blossoms which have caught my eye throughout my travels, causing me to pause and soak in the splendor of their loveliness.
Biography
Marie Scott graduated from Grace College in 1992 with a B.S. degree, having earned a double-major in graphic design and communications. Although an artist at heart since first-grade art class, upon college graduation, she entered the field of graphic design in order to support herself. This vocational choice, which eventually led to the co-founding and running of a successful graphic design firm for many years, has proven to have been an excellent training ground for her career as a professional artist, which began with the opening of Marie Scott Studios in 2001.
Marie Scott's vibrantly refreshing oil paintings can be found in both corporate and private collections throughout the Midwest.
